Princess Kassie, the daughter of the chess goddess Caïssa and the god of war, Mars, lives a charmed life in the dazzling kingdom of Chess Mountain, where chess pieces are alive and flourish as loyal citizens. But mysterious events and shocking clues reveal that kingdom enemies in disguise may be near, and it is hard to tell friend from foe.
Princess Kassie must choose whether to cut her mission short, or risk everything to protect Chess Mountain. And when the ultimate reveal takes place, Kassie must make her move—with no time to spare.
