To Commander Adam Dalgliesh, who with his team is called in to investigate the case, the mystery at first seems absolute. Few things about it make sense. P.D.James has always written fascinating tales and this is another one that Carrie’s on the Dalgleish saga. Everything is neatly tied up in the end, including his marriage but this time it seems final, not like Death in Holy Orders or The Murder Room. Kate Miskin also seems complete. I want to learn more but seem doomed to wondering! Adrienne
