I think the religious position or the book just made it all the more depressing. I am religious so reading how the husband keep expecting God to fix things in his life when he kept screwing up was just ridiculous. I just didn’t see what the wife saw in her husband. He was selfish, foolish and arrogant. There was three people in the marriage and one of them wasn’t God. He didn’t respect his wife or believe in her. He had more respect and trust in the other woman so that turned me off. He keep saying how much he loved his wife but his actions didn’t prove that at all. The only thing that stood out the wife grew some what off a backbone otherwise she would have been a doormat. His actions cause so much unnecessary pain. The wife best male friend was more of a man than her husband nuff said.
