This is the most disjointed string of scenes and charactors I've ever read. It contains all of Grimes usual cast of characters and brilliant moments of charactor and discription BUT its like someone gathered up all the scraps and bits off the editors floor and threw them togather to loosly resemble a story. I half expected the whole thing to be explained away as a dream sequence! Normally I love Martha Grimes' prose but if you told me that this title was actually written by AI to resemble her writing I'd beleave it. So to sum up if your looking for one of Grimes' beautifully crafted and told tales this isn't it. Take a pass and perhaps go back to reread some of your favorits!
