"The Sacrifice" is a gripping horror tale set on the fictional island of Kisapmata in the Philippines. While the premise may seem typical—a group of skeptical foreigners arriving to shoot a Hollywood film featuring a cursed cave known as the Godseye—the execution is nothing short of chilling. As the diwata (god) haunting the island begins to manifest, the crew's disbelief turns to terror.

The vivid portrayal of horror reminds me of the classic Filipino horror movie franchise "Shake, Rattle, and Roll," which I grew up watching.

"The Sacrifice" is a must-read for anyone interested in Philippine folklore.

Unfortunately, I was not satisfied by the audio narration, particularly when it came to pronouncing Filipino words and phrases. As a native Filipino speaker, I found the mispronunciations quite jarring. It's obvious the audiobook had not been proofed by a Tagalog speaker at all. It detracted significantly from the overall experience.

If you’re particular in pronunciations, I would recommend experiencing this book in print rather than through the audiobook format.
