À propos de cet audio

The truth can be a dangerous thing.

Terrorism, duty, and personal safety collide when Jake Pendleton, an investigator for the NTSB, is called to investigate an aircraft accident in Savannah, Georgia during the St. Patrick's Day celebration. The accident, which at first appears to be quite run-of-the-mill, turns out to be anything but. Since Jake is not willing to pretend there are no suspicious circumstances and more than the usual share of rather unlikely "coincidences," he sets off a veritable avalanche of secrets, violence and treachery. Aided by an unlikely partner, Gregg Kaplan, the air traffic controller who was the last person in contact with the airplane that crashed, Jake sets out to untangle the webs of deceit and to find a vicious killer. Nothing is as it seems, nobody is who you thought them to be. Nothing is sacred. Nobody is safe.

Chuck Barrett offers a story with an unusual action hero character: NTSB investigator 'Jake Pendleton'. It's a little bit hard to picture a bureaucratic cog as a Jack Reacher-type - especially when teamed up with an Air Traffic Controller - but if you can buy that these guys are secretly bad-ass Special-Ops superheroes just waiting for their women to be hurt so that they can go on a revenge mission against global IRA/Al Qeada terrorists, the book is a roller-coaster ride. Just don't expect anything beyond cookie-cutter bad guys and moderately silly action and you'll do okay.

As to presentation: Scott Brick does a great job reading this book. I have always felt that Brick is best consumed with playback speed set at 1.15X (his delivery is drawling and smarmy if you don't).. but his performance is otherwise excellent on this project (his Irish accents are particularly impressive).

Altogether, 'The Savannah Project' is a rollicking Thriller - a bit sophomoric at times, but great fun. I found Barrett's use of sexual content quite heavy handed, and he includes a lot of irrelevant information (e.g. about Georgia history).. but the book was good enough within it's genre to prompt me to continue with the 'Jake Pendleton' series. Your Credit is likely better spent elsewhere if they ask for one but this 6.5/10-star audiobook is a reasonable distraction if you find it on the 'Plus' menu.

Passable Effort

Overall this story was good. There were areas where the actions went on and on and became a bit boring and repetitive. The narrator was very good although there were parts where he seemed to take a quick breath in for no apparent reason.

thankfully it was free, unfortunately Scott Brick couldn't even save this. if you want to try it out, at least it's free, but It's a difficult listen in general.

I couldn't even get through three chapters
