I like that MC is pretty competent and the general cultivator population are not psychotic as opposed to the trope of the genre.

However, MC is not really a genius scientists, but more of a senior lab technician, who heavily relies on futuristic technologies for his work, so he could not do a lot in the book and didn't make a lot of progress. Another problem is the untranslated Chinese names making it very hard to keep track of all the characters (I can only remember MC's name at book's end).

-1 star for Chinese names. Eastern cultivation novels are great! love them, but can't remember character's names. 1 weird name per book is fine. Chong Lee or Feng Bo or w/e. I will remember it. but when all the names are weird, they slip out of my mind.
