Story is meh, the narration... not good.

I bought this story because it's in a genre I enjoy and because of the cover. I saw the reviews and saw that narration was flagged as an issue. Generally, when I see that a book has poor narration, it doesn't phase me. And often I say, it wasn't that bad. Not this time around. The narration of this book is a real problem. Voices sound the same. Accents, when attempted, were poor. And the production/editing was sub-par. The story itself is linear and lacks emotional heft. There are many, many information dumps. The book could have been reduced by a third if paragraphs were not offered on various country's GDPs and the various weapons used - it's too much and takes away from the story. The story does have some redeeming elements - I like that it's not overly focussed on the United States. The heroes are from other countries, which I liked. I see that this author has written other stories and I hope he's improved in these areas because if he does, there's definitely potential. He has creative ideas and the book, despite its info dumps, was really well researched.
