I was worried that this was too long and broad of a book to keep my attention. But it did. I got chills in the last couple sentences as it came to an end. Was just amazing that it kept my attention.

This book is truly One the finest historical reads on World War 2. I first came across Antony Beevor after reading his incredible book on Stalingrad. I am going to read that one again. It is that good.

Rarely do we get a panoramic view of the events and people that created the history of WWII.

Beevor manages to write a lucid book spanning decades that is engaging and well researched.

The author reveals rarely mentioned details that illuminate this story in a way that makes it a must read for those well versed on the topic. Anyone wanting to know more about WWII can do little better than starting with this book.

Seems very well researched and accurate. There is so much to learn about WW2 and Antony does a great job teaching and then setting up the listener to dig further into a certain topic.
