À propos de cet audio

Crease is known in Weaver as ‘the bug guy', the man who takes care of insects and other critters. But what emerges from the shadows of the town's waste plant is beyond anything found in nature.

Fist-sized cockroaches. Bird-sized wasps. Spiders, millipedes, ticks, all swollen to enormous bulk with vicious appetites to match. And other things, creatures that should never exist.

Through the night they come, slithering, buzzing, scuttling, crawling over skin, burrowing into flesh, making the town their nest.
Time is soon running out for Crease and the other survivors, as that hideous skittering noise closes in from all around…

Good idea for a bug horror novel and decent execution overall, a few inconsistencies but I enjoyed it!

Bug horror!

This David Haynes tale is a stoopid rollercoaster-ride blast. Swarms of insects mutated by toxic waste terrorize a small town in one of the dumbest books that I have ever read. Laughably two-dimensional caricatures of people flounder about and screw each other over while giant/viciously aggressive/metal-carapaced roaches, ants, spiders, and wasps eat victims alive from the inside out or inject them with slug-spawning venom. My IQ dropped several points while listening to the book but when I gave up trying to apply logic to the narrative, I found it surprisingly entertaining.

As to presentation: Reader Jeff Harding understands the assignment. Some of his cartoonish character voices are disappointingly over-the-top.. but his ability to avoid laughing out loud while delivering some of the silliest dialogue ever written is genuinely impressive. His tongue-in-cheek but somehow serious performance is spot-on.

Altogether, Do Not make this 2.5/10 star brain candy your go-to reading fare.. DO NOT.
... but 'The Skittering' is one of those "so bad it's good" tales we run into every so often. The near-parody junk food for your mind is oddly satisfying.
Still, I found the book on the 'Plus' menu - so I didn't have to pay anything. If you spend a Credit on it, you're an idiot.

[Note: The Author's obsession with Marijuana is legitimately baffling. Making pot smoking a major plot point must be unique in literature]

The only thing worse than this book is the absolutely horrendous narration. I went into this with low expectations, hoping it would just be fun trash, but I would like my time back.

But have you ever written a book... On weed?
