While there was quite a bit of focus in this book on one stowaway, it was more a book about stowaways - as in multiples. It’s almost as if the book was written about multiples, then edited (to sell?) to feature one young man’s story. I wasn’t unhappy to get a broader picture, but it was US centric, and covered one era, so don’t expect it to deliver a comprehensive history of stowaways. There was some context of Antarctic exploration, but if you didn’t know the history, you’d be lost. The narration, unfortunately, was rather flat. So, not a terrible book, but not great.
