I found this book while browsing the Audible Plus catalogue, looking for something short I could listen to while working. The synopsis seemed promising, so I decided to give it a try. This was actually my first read by Emily March, so I was curious to see what her writing style would be like.

The Summer Melt is a short and sweet contemporary romance set in the charming town of Eternity Springs. We meet Dana Delaney, owner of the ice cream shop Scoops, who is overwhelmed during tourist season when her star employee suddenly falls ill. Help arrives in the form of Cal Buchanan, a visiting A-list sports agent with a Scottish accent who offers to step in. What starts as a temporary fix quickly turns into more, as the two navigate their attraction while surrounded by small-town charm and romantic settings.

The storyline was essentially there and even enjoyable—it kept me engaged enough to finish without feeling like I had to push through. I also appreciated the narration; both Andi Arndt and Dave Gillies did a nice job bringing the characters to life.

That said, there was nothing particularly extraordinary about it. It’s a light, quick listen that fits perfectly when you want something simple and heartwarming, but it doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

I love this series, it never disappoints. I really like hearing about the people I have read or listened to in the other books. Please continue writing about this wonderful place and people!

The story was cute and sugary sweet. I liked it, and I didn't find that I needed to have read the rest of the series to get a good sense of the world.

However...
I wasn't a big fan of the male reader. I don't think his style meshed with the female reader and it was very jarring every time they switched. It would have been better if they'd stuck to the talented female reader, who did a fine job with the accent.

Also, another gripe: Dana's cursing in ice cream flavors nearly made me delete the book every time it happened. So stupid. It decreased the quality of the story by at least 2 stars.

the story was sweet but very predictable. as always, loved Andi Arndt (5 stars for her) but not a fan of thr male voice. no emotion and irritating to listen to his mechanical voice.

As someone who is allergic to dairy, I had a reaction listening to this book from the amount of cheese in this story.
