The victim's wife seeks guidance from her kindhearted art instructor, Leon Martinez. Leon has painted a watercolor of the crime scene, only to discover that he has connections to the victim, multiple suspects, and the murder weapon. A clue Leon does not even realize he has leads Breuninger to an ex-con who just might, in a devil's bargain, help Breuninger identify the shooter.
As a forest fire rages through Sunriver, a ruthless killer threatens Leon, his wife, and his friends. Who lit the fire and will it destroy any chance of Breuninger nailing down justice?
