Now that Katya Sparhardt has reached eighteen years of age, she is finally ready to be inducted into the dance ensemble at Trantonia's Metapeet Temple. But she starts to question her choices when her best friend Amalia Tansy abruptly leaves the temple. Katya soon discovers secrets about herself and her own family history. As she starts to pay more attention to what's happening outside temple walls, she also notices stirrings of unrest that threaten to restart a war between the neighboring nations of Trantonia and Scransee.
