I loved the accumulation of facts about Elizabethan England. They gave me a real sense of what it was like. I particularly liked the itemized lists of peoples belongings, right down to how many plates they owned, a cupboard, an inkwell, etc.

The narrative is interesting. Some chapters could be more in depth, such as seafaring. Other chapters could be much less, such as clothing or facial hair. Narrator’s voice - the best !
