I liked the soothing voice of Edward Herrmann. The story itself was a little bit complicated for me, despite my love for any piece of literature written by King.

One of my SK favourite books! Would definitely recommend it. It’s terrifying, captivating and leaves you wanting to know more. The book may be a little verbose, but definitely worth the read. Highly recommend it!!

Excellent narration. Story dragged at times, but another great Stephen King story. This one has his sci-fi/supernatural feel to it which isn't always for everyone.

Read this years ago and didn't care for it but thoroughly enjoyed it this time. funny how time can change your appreciation of a book, this will now go in my permanent collection. King does a very good job on Bobby's interior monologue, felt realistic to me.

This novel was a favourite of mine as a teen, and I've enjoyed binge listening during this current pandemic. I especially enjoyed the narrator, who easily made each character an individual. With so many characters to keep track of, I applaud the talent.

From beginning to end, you get what you pay for.

The story is long, the characters are relatable. Like most Stephen King stories, nothing is explained in the end and the sci-fi or occult elements are hardly consistent even within their own rules.

However, what emerges is an entirely entertaining 27 hours. The story is entertaining, though at times, crude and violent. The characters are actually likeable. You keep listening because you want to know what happens to them.

Stephen King does a good job of developing the good characters as well as the bad ones.

Also, the whole book revolves around a Science Fiction theme, with a flying saucer buried in the ground providing the impetus for most conflicts in the book. King does a good job here, and when the book diverges from its standard Small-Town-America-Stephen-King-book territory into the world of Science Fiction, King is surprisingly adept.

All in all, if you are a fan of other Stephen King audiobooks like Skeleton Crew or the Stand, this one will go down real easy.

I really enjoyed the novel itself and I especially enjoyed the narration. It is clear and read with heart. Edward Hermann has a resonant deep voice and you could tell that he really put a lot of effort into giving the listener a good experience. That being said, there are issues with the editing, like other reviewers have mentioned. Words do cut short. That does not take away from the content and narration, but does take you out of the story. It was not a major issue for me however, the narration made up for it a lot.
