The story is fun overall, one of those tales you look back on and wonder how you covered so much so fast. although the characters are relatively simple, they are also believable. The magic is familiar but doesn't seem exactly like anything else, and the plot seems to always make sense in hindsight, even if it wasn't predictable. Good fun, I'm headed for book 2!
