Each winter the crew at the Shackleton South Pole Research Facility faces nine months of isolation, round-the-clock darkness, and one of the most extreme climates on the planet. This isn’t the kind of fiction I usually go for, but I guess I have always been curious about what it must be like to be so remotely stationed. I read this (listened to) this a couple of years ago but it must have been good, because I still remember certain moments.
