Description

From New York Times best-selling author of the “twisty-mystery” (Vulture) novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, comes The Woman in Cabin 10, an equally suspenseful and haunting novel from Ruth Ware - this time, set at sea.

In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for - and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong....

With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense audiobook in The Woman in Cabin 10 - one that will leave even the most sure-footed listener restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.

Disappointing

Maybe I had high expectations after reading In a dark dark wood which I loved, this book was different. The pace was slower and the ending felt underwhelming, with no real character build up.

Painful read

I really struggled through this book...from the drama queen main character to the unbelievable plot to the narrators terrible accents. I always finish a book that I start and I have to say it did pick up a bit in the middle, but it was not one of those books that I can't wait to listen to every day.

So many holes in story

Purchased this for a family road trip and we did listen until the end so that is good. This main character made mistake layered on mistake. While we understood the intent of the ending we each had multiple opinions why this would not be possible. The author should have wrapped the story much better to try and suspend our disbelief.

Great Mystery!

The beginning is a bit slow, but you will be hooked as you get into it! This book reads like it's ready for the movies. Enjoyed this.

Similar to the girl on the train

The story is very similar to the girl on the train and I quite enjoyed listening to the mystery unfold. I wasn't overly fond of the narrator - I found her to hard to listen to, and the voices of the various characters were not well narrated which is why I only gave this four stars.

I enjoyed listening to it. Not scary. Slow for my taste. But over all not bad at all

Not bad, but not great.

I found the narrator to be annoying at times, especially when it came to the Norwegian characters, they all sounded the same. Story was fairly predictable and some sections dragged out for far too long. Overall it was ok.

Anxiety inducing story!

I really enjoyed Imogen Church’s narration. This is my second Ruth Ware novel and while I enjoyed the story it was anxiety inducing. I don’t recommend reading this to fall asleep to. It’s a good story with lots of twists. I’d recommend for folks who enjoy psychological thrillers.

Excellent narration!

She keeps you guessing the entire novel who, why and what. The narrator does a most excellent job!
