A former adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff explains how government's oldest problem is its greatest destabilizing force. fascinating observations and wonderful listen
Sarah Chayes describes the extent to which global corruption relies upon cleptocracies which in turn depend upon " financial aid" from western countries and institutions. Instead of using international aid to help their impoverished or distressed citizens, the money ends up enriching a selection government connected elite, corruption and abuse of millions of global citizens ensue. One of the side effects of these cleptocracies is a rise in extremism, be it religious or otherwise. It is infuriating that Western governments persist in this form of aid! It seems as though the West is funding structures for the global drug trade and human trafficking among others. Worth listening to. Highly recommended.
