À propos de cet audio

In this intimate national bestselling memoir, actress and musician Jamie Lynn Spears opens up for the first time, telling her unfiltered story on her own terms.

You’ve read the headlines, but you don’t know Jamie Lynn Spears. The world first met Jamie Lynn as a child star, when it was her job to perform, both on set and for the press. She spent years escaping into different characters—on All That, Zoey 101, and even in the role as Britney’s kid sister. But as she grew up, faced a teen pregnancy, raised her daughter on her own, pursued a career, and learned to stand on her own two feet, the real Jamie Lynn started to take center stage - a raw, blemished, and imperfect woman, standing in her own power.

Despite growing up in one of America's most tabloid-famous families, Jamie Lynn has never told her story in her own words. In Things I Should Have Said, she talks frankly about the highs and lows, sharing what it was like traveling the world as a kid, how she moved into acting and performing herself, what life as a child star took from her, and the life-changing reality of becoming a teen mom. She talks about how she finally found love and how the mistakes she has made have taught her more than anything else. She also shares vulnerably about how the ATV accident that nearly took her daughter's life brought her back to her faith and caused her to reevaluate and redirect her life.

Frank, courageous, and inspiring, Things I Should Have Said is a portrait of a wife, momma, sister, daughter, actress, and musician doing the best she could to show up for herself and teach her daughters to have the courage to love every part of themselves, too.

Well written, articulated and delivered. I’ll always love Britney, but I was compelled to hear Jamie-Lynn’s perspective. No situation is black or white, every situation has nuance. I will say at time Jamie Lynn’s ego showed - but to be in that industry I’m sure many actors have one.

Overall a compelling story

Well written and narrated. Interesting self story.
I listened to Britney’s before coming here and I have to say this was much better written and told.

Quite good

I enjoyed hearing her story and side of things. I wish folks would be more open minded and stop attacking her.

Honest & Enlightening

I didn’t no much about Jamie Lynn befor reading this. I was to old to watch Zoe 101. I enjoyed hearing her perspective growing up, it was interesting. Being a single mother I really could relate to her story and I really enjoyed hearing about her morals and what she’s learnt over the years.

Good read

Thoughtful and well written, Jamie Lynn’s own struggles with her up bringing are apparent. She addresses the family issues and her feelings with more depth and honesty than I can see in Britney’s book. I am rooting for both of the Spears sisters.

Read After Reading Britney’s Book

I listened to her and her Britney's book. Britney shared her story and opened up about things that happened directly to her. Jamie Lynn sounds like she is defending herself more than telling a story. She tells stories of times she wasn't born yet as if she was there. There is a difference to telling the story of your own life and telling other's story. I found it hard with so many of the same verb words. I kept waiting for it to get better but I felt she was just taking us through her daily life as opposed to telling her story. Sounding like a victim and defending her status as what it sounds like she feels she was the better child. it was messy. But she tried and that is worth something.

It was a pleasant listen. She is a decent and honest person. Not much in the book to bite into. Her main goal seemed to repeat what a good person she was and there is nothing deep or revealing. I enjoyed understanding the age difference with her and Brittany and what it was like for her as a child and living under her sister's shadow. It also gave a little insight into the parents relationship which seems like all of our parents. It also explained how she felt about getting pregnant at 16 and choices she made in life. I just finished reading the Will Smith book (which was absolutely excellent), so this one was simple and light.

Sweet and Simple

This was just a (poorly written) account of the events in her life. Not much insight. Would have benefitted from an editor. Certain words pronounced incorrectly.

Not one thing she should have said

Im surprised that her publicists and the publishing company would let this mess of a book go to press. Constantly back and forth, hard to follow the story of her life when she keeps switching what time in her life shes talking about. Her childhood then adulthood then back to childhood. Its irresponsible. This also kind of exposed how dumb she is?! In like the nicest way possible i dont think shes going to be winning any brain awards anytime soon. Waste of a credit and very short book as well.

Surprised
