I started this series liking Aurora Teagarden. But this book made me frown.

Not a fan of some of the verbiage surrounding minorities, or the speed at which a character’s romantic relationship progressed…. The description of a black man standing out at a primarily white gathering made me wrinkle my nose (something about a chocolate drop on a wedding cake?). And the romance just struck me as flat.

But the plot was quite weak, as well. The villain, their motivation, and the eye-rolling actions Roe takes when the story needs the bad person to get caught clinched it for me. Roe doesn’t make smart choices, and she had a serious lapse in judgement in this book (AND in the previous book in the series), so I think I may be done with Aurora Teagarden.

If you like whirlwind romance, small town mysteries with recurring characters, and a heroine who does risky things, this may be the series for you. It’s turned out not to be for me, though. :)
