Delightful meandering memoir of a two-week rowing excursion on the Thames above 19th century London. Part travelogue, part story collection, part folk philosophy... and a few bits with a dog. Perfectly narration captures the voices of the time, not the least of which is the writer's. An adventure that I suspect will never get old.

Written in 1889, this book had me in tears of laughter again and again and again. The author is indeed gifted at spinning short anecdotes throughout that are unbearably hilarious.

Narration is superb, done in a way that truly invokes laughter. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Reminds me of Mark Twain’s “A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court”, although even funnier than Twain.
