Description

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.

A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

Not worth it...

Really boring, not sure what the draw is here. I don't care about the characters at all.

Fantastic in every way

Every single part of this book is perfection. The way it mirrors the world as it is today, the warnings it makes clear, the political intrigue— everything. Greg Tremblay is the single best audiobook narrator I have ever had the pleasure of listening to, and he is the absolute perfect choice to narrate this amazing series. I straight up refuse to physically read this book because it is just so much better listening to Greg narrate.

I love this series!

The premise of this series is so interesting and is a great one to chat about with friends. I was surprised by hearing so much of the Thunderhead's voice, but I loved the insight that it gave. I love this series and can't wait for the next book!

Possibly best book I've ever read

This second book in the Arc series surpassed all expectations. I am in awe. Absolutely mind blowing.
I am so very happy I decided to give this series a shot. A masterpiece.

Totally lives up to the first one

I absolutely loved this follow up to Scythe. My only complaint is that I got too invested in the story, and I stressed myself out and had to take a break!

#Audible1 Good narration

#Audible1
The narrator did a good job of modifying his cadence and pitch to suit different characters without making it jarring or irritating. Not an easy balance to find as far as narration goes.
Story was engaging and poses some intriguing philosophical questions.

Phenomenal!

I am obsessed with this series. I didn't think I would enjoy this book as much as I did since I loved the first one so much and didn't see at all where it was going. There is a LOT of politics in this book so if thats not your thing you might not love it. But that ENDING, I dying and I need more. GIVE ME MORE. #Audible1 #whensthenextbookcoming #imdead

Amazing!

I absolutely loved it!! As the first one was so good I thought it would be quite hard to make a follow up as good but I was so wrong. This book hooked me and I couldn't stop listening. Bravo and thank you to Neal Shusterman for writing such an entertaining story and Greg Tremblay for rendering the reading soo alive :-) :-)

What a roller coaster!!!

Like any book, there are good and bad moments. Times when it’s impossible to put this book down, and times when you’re anticipating the next whirlwind. I have read hundreds or fantasy books and this one has such a great ending, my jaw dropped. Well done Mr. Shusterman.

I love everything

This is one of the most enjoyable pieces of fiction I have ever encountered in my entire life. The plot keeps surprising me, going to places I would have never dreamed of. I’m am internally screaming about the last few chapters, and I’m already longing for the rest of the story!

Disappointed

What an ending, The bad guys win, The good guy's die, maybe to be reborn again some day. The computer that runs the world now makes no sense! Not worth my time.

But it started so strong :(

About halfway through it gets cliche... Guess it's hard to maintain a strong storyline. Same thing happened when he wrote a sequel to Unwind.

inorganic coincidences

the story is beautifully read but the coincidences which come about feel forced and necessary only to achieve an end.

It had the twists, but...

it never completed any story lines but one...and that one really didn't matter...I wish I had the next book prior to finishing this one as it is so convoluted that by the time the next one is available I wont remember...maybe a bit too much of a cliffhanger...

Good overall, sometimes slow

Interesting. However, some character and plot development was slow moving. Looking forward to the next book.

Good ending, mediocre story

I was expecting the same thrills as the first book, but you can tell this was the middle of a trilogy. There were many times when I fast forwarded because parts just became stagnant and repetitive. That being said I liked the exploration into this universe this book gave, and the ending will make me buy the next book, so overall it was a decent book with great parts scattered throughout.

Not as good as the first one but it did end strongly!

There were a lot of new characters so it was a little frustrating trying to keep track of all the characters as well as all the new settings. That being said this narrator is excellent with such a clear voice. Towards the end I got bored but it does get stronger again and had a strong ending.
