In Tired Wonder, Eric Overby offers a personal account of his last two years. 2021-2023 has seen both the continuation of a struggle with infertility and the birth of his daughter. Eric also changes careers and struggles with his new identity and the changes that come along, ultimately leading him to circle back around and return to it.
Through the course of this season, Eric’s sense of wonder begins to dim. It leads to periods of not writing, until he began to read his older writings as a map to return to where he left off. ‘Remember the Old Paths’, Jeremiah said. Tired Wonder is the map he charts along the way.
The audiobook version contains bonus commentary on the poems. Eric goes into depth about where he was at during the time that he was writing Tired Wonder. The audiobook is a deep dive into how things change with each beginning and ending in life.
