Really enjoyed. I loved that the author read his own book. Only took two days to finish because I couldn't help but listen to the next chapter.

the author, who is evidently a great storyteller. Just like in the original, Angela's Ashes. Found later videos of Mr McCourt's public appearances and enjoyed them too. It pains me that some of his descriptions were vehemently disputed by other witnesses and contemporaries, and that some people felt badly hurt by his words. My understanding is that factuality of the incidents and occurrences described need to be taken with caution, but that the main idea and spirit of the tale are true.

Angela's Ashes was so moving and beautiful. How could I resist hearing about Frank's next chapter in America? McCourt is a wonderful story teller. Tis did not disappoint.

I found ‘Tis more depressing and dark than Angela’s Ashes since it lacks the bright-eyed view of a little child and tells the story from the viewpoint of an adult with a hard past and a tormented present. The storytelling of Frank McCourt is.. frank(pun intended) and carries a lot of pain and the heavy burden of the struggle of a man who cannot seem to fit in the modern society of the US with his poverty ridden past and inner battles over who he really is. I loved the book but it wasn’t easy to listen to.
