Description

How exactly has one good deed landed me in the penalty box?

Ice Knights defenseman Zach Blackburn has come down with the flu, and my BFF - his PR manager - begs me to put my nursing degree to use and get him back to health. Of course she would call in a favor for the most hated man in Harbor City.

But when he’s finally on the mend and I’m sneaking out of his place, everything goes sideways. Paparazzi spot me and pictures, plus accusations that I slept with him, fly faster than a hockey puck.

At first, all of Harbor City wants my blood - or to give me a girlie-girl makeover. But then…the team finally wins a game. And now this fickle town wants me with the big jerk twenty-four seven.

Argh. I never slept with him the first time! But no one will listen. Then the grumpy bastard goes and promises to break his no-fan-appearances rule to help raise money for a free health clinic - but only if I’m rink-side at every game. That’s not a deal I can turn down.

But when the team keeps winning, and I realize there’s more to him than his bad reputation, suddenly remembering to keep my real hands off my fake date gets harder and harder to do.

Just what I needed...

I want to say that this is my favorite book in the series, but I enjoyed it so much that I want to go back and read Butterface and Muffin Top just to make sure (and also because they're pretty awesome books too). I'm so stoked to read Parental Guidance and get more Ice Knights delightfulness! I also hope we get more from the Hartigan clan because I sort of love them. I loved how fierce and unapologetically self Fallon is - she knows her strengths and weaknesses and embraces them. I also love how vulnerable Zach is - he's just a big old softy in a hard shell. I think that my favorite part of Tomboy though, is that we get enough drama for the plot to move at a good pace, but minimal angst (I had enough of that in the last 7 books I read - your girl was in need of a break). This was just a fun, sexy (perhaps even sexier than the first two books?), lighthearted gem of a story and a great intro to a new series that I'm SUPER excited for! 4.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

So good

Each book in this series got better and better. Fallon and Zach had their issues like all re other couples but weren't as insecure in the strength of their relationship.

Zach Blackburn is so sick that his PR rep\friend sends her best friend Fallon Hartigan to take care of him. And from there their story takes off.

The most hated man in Harbor City

What I have noticed about Avery Flynn and what keeps bringing me back is she has a lot of well developed and fleshed out character with real issues. The women are strong willed and a bit vulnerable (because hell women can be and are both.) And the men are not threatened by the women in the stories, not emotionally constipated and actually share what is bothering them to their friends at least. (But yes... I know that this is in fact written by a woman. However, it is good to depict how sharing and communication are key in any relationship or friendship.)

This story is no different. The two main characters were fun to get to know, lots of cute banter. There is a lot of layers to peel back... lot of insecurities. Zach and Fallon are two sides of the same coin. I love how Flynn talked about internet trolls in this one and their impact on some people. No matter how tough those people seem to be.

The narration was great. I enjoyed this performance so much I downloaded more of their work.

Cute

This was a cute story with witty comebacks and the ending was all wrapped up nice and neat. I wouldn’t mind reading or listening to another book by this author.

family sometimes feel they are owed everything

This tomboy has not quams about who she is. She's strong. She's fierce. She's protective. She's independent. She's a Hartigan. Fallon Hartigan is and was all those things and more. She was asked for a favor by one of her best friends. She would do what it took to make sure that she did exactly what was requested of her. She just did not expect all that she got from one favor.

Zach Blackburn could be the most hated man in Harbor City. He's cocky. He's isolated. He's alpha. He's sick. He's hiding a secret. He needs a protector. Fallon becomes that protector for him.

There were things in this one that I did not expect. I liked it very much because it gave me more. It had me laugh, get angry, maybe cry a little bit and cheer for both Zach and Fallon. This opened your eyes to how sometimes family feel like you own them more just because. Some families stand by you in all times. Some families only got your back when you got something they want.

Savannah and Brian nailed it again.

Entertaining Series

Good timing in reading this one. It was lite and entertaining. Zach and Fallen have great banter, chemistry but both are stubborn and like to push the others buttons. This has been a great series.

Best of the series

This book, in my opinion, is the best of the series. I couldn't get past the first few chapters of Parental Guidance.

Loved it!

My favorite of the Hartigan series. I loved both Zach and Fallon. She was sassy and took no crap. He was prideful and loved her sass. Lots of good quips. This one really made me feel. The narrators brought the characters to life perfectly.
