Histoire
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Description
Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.
The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.
In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?
In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.
In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.
In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.
Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn....

Another fantastic book
Book 13 is yet another fantastic book in the series. This book does little to focus on Rand or Egwene as book 12 did that. This book focuses on Perrin, White Cloaks, Mat, Elayne & Gawyn. Everything was well written and thought out. The fights were vivid and epic. When Perrin did the “Hammer” thing, that was truly epic.

Another beauty by Brando Sando
Not as good as Gathering Storm but still much better than the 5 or so WoT books before. Sanderson has really brought back in storylines, concepts, characters that I thought were forgotten. It seems a little bit "tidy" to close some of these things that honestly I had forgotten and didn't care that I had forgotten. However some returns are definitely welcome. I'm very excited for the finale and hope to finish it in time for the tv show on Nov. 19th

A truly great sleeping aide
OK, I get it. Perrin Aybarra is conflicted. But how many times in the same series, in the same damn book, do we have to hear the same character's inner monologue going on about what a bad leader he is? This character had grown stale several books ago, now I dread when the narrators return to his story arc.
I also understand that al'Lan Mandragoran is conflicted. He's out for revenge, knows he is on a suicide mission and therefore doesn't want any followers as he sets off to fight the dark one all by himself. But do we really have to repeat this refrain every time he picks up new followers? Did someone tell Brandon Sanderson that he had to fill 900 pages and to drag out every single story thread to reach that number? Sheesh!
I also understand that "bubbles of evil" are hitting the "Wheel of Time" world with greater regularity. But going into great detail as though these episodes are integral battle scenes is like hitting the pause button and trapping the plot line in freeze-frame mode.
Even Matrin Cauthon's thread has become bogged down in this book as he basically waits ... to open a letter from Verin Sedai, for an audience with the queen of Andor, to go rescue Moiraine Sedai ... A pity because Mat's character had been so full of life in all the previous works.
Brandon Sanderson did such a fantastic job breathing new life into the series with the previous book. It was spellbinding. It was gripping. It was full of surprises and great writing. But "Towers of Midnight" is only a tiny bit "gripping" surrounded by a whole lotta boring.

OMG ... OMG ... OMG
And The Battle Begins .... Almost at the end of part 4 and can only say "Oh My GOD". I am still in complete "awe" at how one man's mind could concieve a world such as WoT. Thank you Brandon Sanderson for so effectively putting RJ's final vision on paper and bringing it to us. Thank you Michael and Kate for breathing true and such vivid LIFE into RJ's characters. NOW .... I WILL HAVE TO STILL MYSELF to patients for the conclusion. And believe me I will be on the edge of my seat until the last and final book is released next year.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
Brandon Sanderson really understands this wonderful world that Robert Jordan has created. I am saddened that we will only get one more book and then nothing but imagination. I have listened to all of the books in this series and I remain captivated by the charactors and the Narration. Kate Redding is really the best there is and there would be no Matt without Micheal Kramer. Mr. Sanderson has another loyal follower.

Wow
Prologue gave us a glimpse of what was to come. The book , so far, lives up to the promise of the prologue. I am up to chapter 8 now and and really excited about what has happened thus far. Like pieces of a puzzle gradually coming together so that one can see more and more of the whole tapestry that this series truly is. A magnificent tapestry with plently of places to view in detail.

Keeps getting better!
As with the gathering storm, this book benefits from the blending of styles between Jordan and Sanderson. The action and plot keep your attention and make it difficult to stop. Sanderson does the reader / listener the favor of removing the one and only true annoyance of Robert Jordan's writing style; that being the never-ending detailed descriptions of every conceivable object, especially every characters current clothing. Enough detail remains to not fully depart from precedent; however, emphasis is given to plot and actions. The only problem I have with this book is the realization that it will likely be at least another year before I can purchase the final book.

Doesn't wrap as nicely as Gathering Storm
This was a solid and action packed listen. As usual, Michael and Kate do an excellent job with the read. If Rand and Egwene are the primary characters in this series, they have only brief appearances in Towers of Midnight. Perrin and Mat's stories finally get moving and are almost resolved. I would say that anything unpredictable occurs in those story lines, but they are satisfying nonetheless. The flow and story is so tight I actually felt this book ended too abruptly. However, I look forward to the conclusion coming in the next book.

Its a necessary step...
I'm a long time WOT fan but for me, like many, the series really bogged down as Jordan overwrote every book since the 5th one. RJ pursued so many story lines it made it almost impossible to follow one character or story arc effectively as a reader, and the mess he left for Brandon Sanderson to clean up is truly atrocious. How RJ expected to finish all of this off in 1 last mammoth book is beyond me. Clearly BS has a made an effort to retain the Jordan pattern of giving every single minor character anyone runs across a back story. Unfortunately that tendency was one of the things I liked least about how RJ wrote his books. Like many here I'm terribly tired of P Aybarra's constant introspection, just get over yourself already. Further I believe that Kramer's voice for him, along with the dialog, makes him seem like a petulant child and I've found myself skipping parts of his section that clearly repeat what has been said too many times before. I generally like Mat's character and it feels to me like BS has brought some new life to that story line, and some of the plot lines finally resolve themselves to clean that up. Rand's story arc and character are HUGE upgrades over RJ's last efforts and I finally find, again, that the story seems to be advancing along well with his character. Egwene's character is still far too much for me to stomach and she seems to be becoming a pivotal female character who is influencing the other female characters in the story line, such as Elayne and Nyneave who are stronger characters and much more likable in my opinion. I find myself wishing Egwene is killed off in a tragic moment to show that even the main characters can be touched by the Dark... but if that happened there would be WAY to much work to be done on the White Tower story line so I guess she has to be kept around. Avienda, one of my favorite early characters is virtually non-existant, as are most of the Aiel characters. This is clearly a necessary step, just finish already.
