À propos de cet audio
Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he's cut off all ties to his former life, so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how. Alone. So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.
But Kaine's gruff demeanor doesn't scare her. She's set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn't mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband's betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.
Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper's lifetime - and Kaine's worst fear.
©2018 Devney Perry (P)2019 TantorI love an accidental pregnancy trope and Devney nailed this trope. Right from the prologue I was in tears - Kaine deserves the world and more 🥺. I loved how this one was a different setting than the previous books in the series. The mountain and nature vibes were perfection and I loved how the story really dove into their Kaine and Pipers feelings towards one another.
Small town
Accidental pregnancy
Grumpy x sunshine
Neighbors to lovers

So emotional!

I added this book to my TBR after reading Riven Knight (Clifton Forge series) last year, which centres around the MMC’s brother, Isaiah. What we learn about the traumatic events of Isaiah’s past and the brief mentions of his brother Kaine had me curious to get the other side of the story.
I decided to listen to the audiobook since it was included with my Audible membership and while I really enjoyed Teddy Hamilton’s performance as MMC Kaine, I almost gave up on listening because I could not stand Jillian Macie as FMC Piper. I had a really hard time determining whether I didn’t like the character herself, or if it was the narration that was causing me to dislike her so much (I’m still not sure). As the story went on, I did begin to feel for Piper more, though.
One thing I can say for both narrators is that they handled their voicing of the opposing character well. I usually don’t enjoy audiobooks that are not done in a duet narration style, but this one didn’t bother me since each narrator’s shift into a more masculine or feminine tone when necessary wasn’t super jarring or cheesy feeling.
🌶️🌶️.5 - The spice hits early in this one (10%) but these scenes don’t take up that much real estate in the book as a whole, which made it hard for me to rate this aspect based on my current 🌶️ scale, so this rating is based on the type of spice rather than timing.
Narration: 3/5
Story: 4.5/5
Really not a fan of Jillian Macie as Piper
