Growing up in a small town in Minnesota, Tyler and his two brothers filled their days with chaotic fun, from playing hockey to building forts to making their own home movies. The household was also full of addiction and abuse that ultimately led to their father attempting to murder their mother on Christmas Eve 2007.

Trailer Park Parable follows Tyler and his family before Christmas Eve 2007, the events leading to that night, and the years afterward. It trails the boys as they deal with varying degrees of PTSD and their own battles with addiction, before they eventually turned their creative coping mechanisms, like their YouTube channels, into million-subscriber successes.

As the title implies, me and my son were reluctant to read/listen (since we did audiobook) to Tyler Zed’s story. Not because we dont like him, its because we do and are avid fans of his youtube channel. In times past we have gotten to know youtubers on a more “personal note” and were forced to unsubscribe. Dezmond’s story touched our lives and made us be very happy supporters of him, his family and his content. As my 15 year old son and I listened to a well written voice over from Tyler Zed, we only took one break because my son felt the sentiments that he shared reflected his own thoughts and emotions. I cried out loud a few times because of this touching story. My son and I were very happy to hear about Dezmond’s faith in God and recognizing The Lord in his book. This, to me, was a pivotal moment in giving my love and support to Dezmond, Tess and his daughters. My son and I cannot express our love and joy towards this young man, his good wife and all his famley. Praise ye The Lord for bringing Dezmond to this wonderful time of life and may He bless him according to His lovely Word! I am very glad we listened to your book and highly recommend this book to those who need inspiration, to those who love his youtube channel and to the folks who want to remember why they broke the cycle of dysfunction in their families. This was a good listen. A story of human-ness...of survival and determination. if you watch his Youtube chanbel hes just a nice guy. I never would have guessed he had such a time. Truth is hard to get out but it can be healing. Thank you for sharing.

I absolutely love the reading of this remarkable book! Tyler, or rather Desmond does a great job reading his book about overcoming tremendous difficulties in childhood that culminated in a catastrophe. In his attempt to discover why, he not only discovers amazing life lessons he finds his “anchor.” An absolute must read for anyone who is searching for answers in life. Let Tyler take you on a wild ride. Buckle up, this ain’t for the faint of heart.

To say I was excited to read this is an understatement !y my honey and I watch your channel religiously it is on of our favourite channels and when we seen you wrote a book we weren’t gonna hesitate to read it. You and your family have been through things no human nor child should need to endure and how you’ve over come those obstacles and made something of yourselves is truly inspiring! This book is absolutely amazing!

I liked having no idea that Desmond has been through so much. It's inspirational that you can overcome and thrive after tragedy without throwing yourself permanently on the alter of victimhood like so many do. Your Grandpa would be so proud of you Desmond. ❤

This book parallels my life experiences in so many ways. From growing up with parental addiction, dying, death, grief , PTSD, hate, anger, forgiveness and more.

I am currently struggling with PTSD after the horrific trauma of discovering my mother’s body after she finally succumbed to her alcoholic addiction. People think I should be over it by now, or that if my mind creates the flashbacks and night terrors, I should be able to control my mind and make it all stop.

Thank you Zed for explaining that there are times when you can be taken against your mental-will, back to those very real mental places for unknown amounts of time without even being aware of time passing!

I would like to add that I have done a Bachelors degree in Social work and a Masters in Psychology. I worked on a Palliative Oncology unit in a hospital. I have a ton of education and experience, yet as a strong individual, I continue to drown in my trauma.

Your book has given me hope that one day there will be some forward motion, I might meet a great man to share life and goals with, live a simple life and get out from under this black cloud!

I would love to write about my life as well, writing has always been cathartic for me, but I feel as though I would be casting shame and indignity on current family members as well as those who have died. Did you ever grapple with those thoughts or did you even feel that conflict?

An additional part of the pain I carry about my Mom, is that my eldest sibling told the immediate family we must lie about what really happened regarding my mom’s death, for her sake. Other family, friends and loved ones were never told the truth and people actually made cash donations to the organization for which they believed was the cause of her death! That is so messed up and the LIE is killing me!

It was a fantastic book. I’ve watched his YouTube channel since nearly day one so I feel like I know him as a friend. To read this book and empathize with his struggles as my childhood had some similarities was so much more than I expected. Heartbreaking and hopeful. It was really a special book.

I didn’t think it was possible to adore these young men more. My heart was ripped out, danced on and shoved back in. Our family loves the heck out of Zed & Deev! Love em’ Literally, we watch their content for supper as a family. I didn’t think it was possible but we respect them even more!!! Fitter Zebras mom! ;)
