Description

They are my harvest, and I will reap them all.

Returning to Guthrie, Oklahoma, for the funeral of his mysterious and beloved aunt, Sue, Adam Binder once again finds himself in the path of deadly magic when a dark druid begins to prey on members of Adam’s family. It all seems linked to the death of Adam’s father many years ago - a man who may have somehow survived as a warlock.

Watched by the police, separated from the man who may be the love of his life, compelled to seek the truth about his connection to the druid, Adam learns more about his family and its troubled history than he ever bargained for, and finally comes face-to-face with the warlock he has vowed to stop.

Meanwhile, beyond the Veil of the mortal world, Argent the Queen of Swords and Vic the Reaper undertake a dangerous journey to a secret meeting of the Council of Races...where the sea elves are calling for the destruction of humanity.

An amazing follow up!

Trailer Park Trickers is the second book in the Adam Binder series by David R. Slayton. Picking up right after White Trash Warlock, we’re immediately thrown into the next upheaval in Adam’s life.

When he has to return to Guthrie, Adam once again finds himself in the path of deadly magic. A dark druid is preying on members of Adam’s family, and he doesn’t know why. Things are even more confusing now that he knows his father is dead, because he doesn’t know who the druid could be or why their magic feels so familiar.

Watched by the police and separated from the man he’s quickly falling in love with, Adam learns more about his family and its troubled history than he ever bargained for. When he comes face to face with the warlock he’s vowed to stop, will he be able to do what needs to be done?

And where is Vic?

As far as sequels go, Trailer Park Trickster more than holds up to the first book in this series. I was happy to see that this book took off only a little while after White Trash Warlock, as I really didn’t want to miss anything between Adam and Vic!

Just as full of action and mystique as the first book in the series, I found that this sequel had even more of an investigative feel to it as Adam and his family tried to figure out exactly what was happening in Guthrie.

This book delved even deeper into the relationship between Adam and his brother Bobby, though this time we saw it all from Adam’s POV. I was even more glad that the first book had a split POV, because we already understood some of Bobby’s emotions and motivations going into this one. Even though he’s weighed down by grief, it’s so very clear that Bobby is trying to be a good brother as he works to accept Adam and his magic.

Speaking of dual POVs, this time around we got to see Vic’s point of view as he went gallivanting across the spirit realm with Argent. Getting to see into his mind was awesome, especially with how into Adam he was! While we knew that Adam wasn’t totally convinced that the connection between them wasn’t anything more than magic, it was really nice to see into Vic’s mind and learn that he was totally into Adam, magic or not.

I actually liked everything that we got to see from Vic’s POV! His character stayed true throughout the book, even as he began to learn more about the magical world that he had been pulled into. That, and the little insights into how him and his family get on, was lovely to read!

Another thing that I loved loved loved was Wran! I have to say that teenage, emo magical creatures are officially my favourite side characters ever and every single fantasy book should have one. This mischievous, playful elf is officially one of my favourite characters in this whole series!

Once again, Michael David Axtell does an excellent job at narrating these books. Vic’s point of view was beyond enjoyable, and I loved getting a look inside his head that stayed true to his voice as a character.

Trailer Park Tricker is an excellent instalment in the Adam Binder series. It incorporates all the fantastic aspects of the first book — the easy and clear writing, the striking urban fantasy, inspiring magical systems and lovable characters — with a fun and engaging mystery that unfolds over the course of the book. With a healthy dose of longing and a side-focus on Adam and Vic’s continued romance, this was an easy four-star read that I enjoyed from start to finish!

Not as good as the first

I was excited to read this but I ended the book kinda just being frustrated. A relationship is just blossoming in the first book, yet in this one the two characters don't spend any time together 😅. And the one scene when they do, they fight. It's like the author didn't know how to advance their relationship so decided to just put it on the back burner? I also found that the plot didn't get interesting until the last quarter of the book, and then it ends on a cliffhanger. I'm not sure I'll be partaking in the final book of the series.
