I love this story and where it is going. An assassin with a heart and pirates with a soul.

The narrators do a wonderful job dueting this novel. excited to listen to the next two books from this author.

I liked the premise however the constant contrivances sullied my enjoyment. Plot holes abound with impotent Goddesses somehow able to deny their power to anyone who displeases them on a whim, but not for the ones working with the antagonist, whom the goddess have been trying to kill for centuries? I may have swallowed that but additionally the main character was presented to us as a badass assassin with multiple kills under her belt, yet she can't lie, is never shown to win a fight against anyone stronger than a drug addict and can only use magic sporadically due to... reasons. The author made Swiss cheese of her world building in order to keep the MC in peril. The character fails to deliver throughout the rest of the book seeming to lack forethought or a backbone. Her so called trust issues come and go depending on what's convenient for the plot. Not only does she he is constantly saved by her "mates" who seem delighted by her incompetence, but she just accepts being treated like garbage one moment and having towering pride the next.

I finished the book, I would advise you not to even buy it.
