À propos de cet audio

Join Dr. Paul Conti for a journey toward understanding, active treatment, and societal prevention of trauma.

Imagine, if you will, a disease - one that has only subtle outward symptoms but can hijack your entire body without notice; one that transfers easily between parent and child; one that can last a lifetime if untreated. According to Dr. Paul Conti, this is exactly how society should conceptualize trauma: as an out-of-control epidemic with a potentially fatal prognosis.

In Trauma: The Invisible Epidemic, Dr. Conti examines the most recent research, clinical best practices, and dozens of real-life stories to present a deeper, richer, and more urgent view of trauma. Not only does Dr. Conti explain how trauma affects the body and mind, he also demonstrates that trauma is transmissible among close family and friends, as well as across generations and within vast demographic groups.

With all this in mind, Trauma: The Invisible Epidemic proposes a course of treatment for the seemingly untreatable. Here, Dr. Conti traces a step-by-step series of concrete changes that we can make both as individuals and as a society to alleviate trauma’s effects and prevent further traumatization in the future.

It’s only when we understand how a disease spreads and is sustained that we are able to create its ultimate cure. With Trauma: The Invisible Epidemic, Dr. Conti reveals that what we once considered a lifelong, unbeatable mental illness is both treatable and preventable.

I purchased this title after listening listening to an interview between Dr. Andrew Huberman (@hubermanlab on YouTube) and Dr. Paul Conti. The 2+ hour interview on the topic of Trauma was very informative and lead me to want to hear even more so I got the book. This is an informative yet easy to listen book. As a human, I think the most important aspect of this book was to share that we all might be suffering of one or several traumas, and that if gone in addressed, some of these traumas can become debilitating and even life threatening. Worst if neglected, we can start passing our traumas to others. Some of the pains and common physical symptoms of an experienced trauma - that is often ignored or miss diagnosed by MD’s is mentioned in the book. There are some available solutions introduced in the book. All in all, this is a book worth reading and recommending. It should become basic knowledge and education for all of us. Thank you Dr Conti.

Greatly informative & appreciated

I cannot wait until ‘mental health’ finds a new name!

Thank you for taking a practical approach to communicating through story telling. Trauma is as real as healing is attainable! Our brains are sabotage masters! These words help to rephrase the narrative!

‘We must address Trauma’

Tired of expert/professionals claiming expertise on subject matter as complex as human behavior. Boil it down to one causal factor- trauma. This is better than Maté and more accurate than Van Der Kolk but still arrogant nonetheless.

Charlatan

This book could have been… should have been a 5 minute Ted talk. Worth hearing the ideas but barely.

Some decent ideas clouded with fluff and needless banter.

I like the author, his honesty and authenticity. The fact is there’s nothing new about trauma here and there’s more empty virtue signalling to the woke madness that doesn’t help anyone…

Nothing new, just tainted with social justice mania

Long lectures about the severity of trauma, without offering any practical techniques for coping. The main message seems to focus on how damaging trauma is and how the author is an expert in healing it, but it lacks actionable advice. For someone who is already traumatized, this audiobook may actually serve as a trigger rather than a source of support or healing.
