This is a really solid Fantasy story. The author really knew what they were doing in the genre, as they turn what should be overused tropes into something new and fun to read. For instance, while the Main character gets a do-over button (probably the second most used story setup) , the choices in how this is implemented is unique and really makes the story what it is. The premise is familiar, but it doesn't read like a book you have already read.

I'm honestly looking forward to where this story is going.., the way the book ends (no spoilers) it is almost impossible for this series to be ordinary.
The Narrator did a good job, it was really easy to get into the story, the characters sounded individual and they felt "in character". The main characters voice got a little silly (and cracks) when he gets intense, but it actually kind of makes him more endearing and individual as a character.

My criticisms are pretty much exclusively for how it flows in audiobook format. The pace was sometimes slow, and some back and forth was repetitive at times. an example would be the arc with the latino family talking about the MC. It just felt dragged out in places like that. Its a pretty minor problem , and its me being nitpicky.

Overall I loved this book enough to write a review.

One last thing, if author reads this, I hope it branches off to be less of a solo effort in the future, that he has a romantic interest or friendship. I don't want him to be lonely forever, you really got me feeling emotionally invested in this character haha
