When they bump into each other at an open house, Leslie thinks Ty is simply a vet student who's obsessed with horses and only came to the open house for a free cookie—all of which is true. But when the rest of the truth comes out, neither Leslie nor Ty believes there's a way forward.

I was swept up by this story, the quiet magic of the setting, the tenderness between the characters, and the way it captures those moments where everything feels possible.

One element gave me pause, though, and it’s more about language than the character themself. The main character uses they/them pronouns, and while I fully respect that, I found myself frequently unsure whether a sentence referred to the MC alone or to the MC and another character. My brain kept trying to sort singular from plural, and it often pulled me out of the scene. That’s not a flaw in the character or the author’s intent; it’s about English and maybe the unfortunate outcome of using the they/them as an alternative.

At the same time, the characters’ sexual and romantic experiences echo those of many, and that recognition helped me feel seen in ways I didn’t expect. It added a layer of intimacy to the story that felt very real. So much so that I wished there had been more sex scenes and more discussions around our unique experiences in the bedroom.

Abby doesn’t need praise because she is THE best ♥️
