À propos de cet audio

Read by the author.

Break bad habits and build your rich life by mastering the art of strategic subtraction.

Unhinged Habits will revolutionize your relationship to work, money, and even adult friendship.

Read Unhinged Habits if:

  • Your calendar’s packed, yet you feel like you're missing what matters.
  • You've bought things meant to bring happiness, but the satisfaction didn't last.
  • You suspect you're living someone else's definition of success rather than your own.

We’re all habitual by nature. We fall into patterns and get stuck. We form habits and never question them.

Some habits propel us forward. Others can work against us over time.

The key? Get the order right. Balance short-term desires with long-term planning. Set yourself up for a bright future without missing the magic in the present.

Unhinged Habits pushes back against slow and incremental progress in the pursuit of some faceless, better future. Lots of people are consistent, yet few get ahead. What’s missing are intermittent bouts of unhinged intensity.

This is a book about wanting a better life and going after it. Or be okay not having it. Both are fine. Just get out of the middle.

For over 13 years, Jonathan Goodman has challenged societal norms and built multi-million-dollar businesses, all while exploring over 30 countries with his family. In Unhinged Habits, Goodman shares the essential insights that freed him from conventional expectations. You will learn:

  • The 8:4 Rule. The counterintuitive seasonal approach that embraces unbalance to level up your relationships with people, money, and health.
  • The Explorer's Compass. A framework to break routine and rediscover wonder in your everyday life.
  • The Three Proxies of True Friendship. How to categorize your friends so you spend more time with the true ones and feel less guilt for letting others go.

Buckle up, because this book is going to break you out of the routines you’ve accepted as normal, but no longer serve you, so that you can finally live your definition of success.

After listening to Unhinged Habits, I'm going to reflect more about how to add seasonality to my life and what things I should NOT do in order better in the things I've decided to prioritize for the time. Not sure what that will look like yet. I'll have to look at the worksheets closer soon.

Thanks for writing this book!

Adding seasonality

I’ve been listening to my bro Jonathan Goodman’s audiobook Unhinged Habits while on vacation and absolutely LOVING it!!!

When I returned home and checked my mail I was pleasantly surprised to see that Jon had sent me a physical copy of his book and a second copy which I have the honour of gifting to a friend who I feel will gain value from reading it and will apply the advice he shares throughout this book in a way that suits them best at this stage of their life.

I’ve found Unhinged Habits to be very relatable on many levels and it’s been wonderful to see the similarities in how both Jon and I have evolved over the years and what we have found to be most meaningful and impactful in our lives.

We need more books like this. More openness. More sharing of our own truths and what truly matters to us individually and as a collective. These are the stories that bring us together. Connect us on some level. Open our eyes to what’s valuable beyond measure. And help us gain more from this beautiful and precious gift of life.

Relatable on many levels

I loved the idea of putting safety third, although I freaked first hearing it, tbh.
And the concept of seasons. I think that's how were likely built to exist. Life is cyclical, not go, go, go in the hustle all the time.
I had no idea people used to sleep an average of ten hours a day! That makes me feel more normal for being tired after 6.5-7.

Giovanni Marsico recommended the book on one of his Destiny Maker calls, I think. I'm so glad I got it. I'm listening to it on Audible and hearing authors read their books is my favourite. Grateful to Jonathan for recording it as well

Thought-provoking, even disruptive - I loved it!
