À propos de cet audio

From world-renowned historian and philosopher Yuval Noah Harari, the New York Times bestselling author of Sapiens, comes an exciting, brand-new audiobook for middle-grade listeners that looks at the early history of humankind.

Even though we’ll never outrun a hungry lion or outswim an angry shark, humans are pretty impressive—and we’re the most dominant species on the planet. So how exactly did we become “unstoppable”?

The answer to that is one of the strangest tales you’ll ever hear. And it’s a true story.

From learning to make fire and using the stars as guides to cooking meals in microwaves and landing on the moon, prepare to uncover the secrets and superpowers of how we evolved from our first appearances millions of years ago.

Acclaimed author Yuval Noah Harari has expertly crafted an extraordinary story of how humans learned to not only survive but also thrive on Earth.

When I bought this book, I didn’t realize it was written for children — something that quickly becomes apparent through its cheerful narration and simplified storytelling. I listened to most of it anyway.
I’ve enjoyed Harari’s 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, but the other works of his that I’ve read have been rather disappointing, and Unstoppable Us continues that pattern. By Chapter 2, Harari identifies imagination, appreciation of beauty, and belief as uniquely human traits — qualities whose origins science still struggles to explain. Yet even as he acknowledges this mystery, he refuses to recognize any spiritual dimension, soul, or core self-identity (as it’s often called today) that transcends our animal nature. Instead, he repeatedly insists that humans are “just animals,” seemingly unwilling to challenge the prevailing secular narrative.

I respect the author and tried to listen this with my 12 and 14 years old. After an hour they began begging me to switch to something else

Was rejected by my children

I was truly disappointed in this story. It may be for children, but can’t understand why you would “write” down to them.

Not up to Harari’s standard

It’s a worthwhile book to read, even as an adult if you’ve read his other books.
