À propos de cet audio
By the good offices of Riptide Publishing, KJ Charles' new entertainment:
Wanted, a Gentleman, or Virtue Over-Rated.
The grand romance of Mr. Martin St. Vincent - a merchant with a mission. Also a problem, Mr. Theodore Swann - a humble scribbler and advertiser for love.
Act the first: the offices of the Matrimonial Advertiser, London, where lonely hearts may seek one another for the cost of a shilling.
Act the second: a pursuit to Gretna Green (or thereabouts) featuring a speedy carriage, sundry rustic, a private bedchamber.
In the course of which are presented romance, revenge, and redemption, deceptions, discoveries, and desires - the particulars of which are too numerous to impart.
©2017 KJ Charles (P)2017 Riptide PublishingThe story is at once full of tropes and rewriting them for a wary romantic. It has dashing heroes and naive ingenues, but also tainted protagonists and unusual twists. As such, it has some interesting discussions about making mistakes, race, owning privilege and complicated relationships, but also some hilarious moments of facepalming comedy, topped by explicit, complicit, very enthusiastic love making. I felt that the reader, M. Patmore, handled all of these twists extremely well.
All in all, this was a wild, fun ride towards a romantic happy ending and a very pleasant audiobook.
