I love the fresh take having a male main character with a cool sense of humor. Excited to hear more from this series. just wish it was longer.

it is good. Definitely Guildcodex. thought the conman on the run origin story a bit week but am excited now that they will be together solving cases.

While this is the first book in the Warped series, it happens after the events of Three Mages and a Margarita, and there are a few references to those events. It is not necessary to read Three Mages before reading this book, but I think it makes it easier to enjoy Kit’s story if we have all the background information on the KCQ and what happened in Three Mages.

Kit is a mythic who got caught up in the KCQ fiasco. His guild master was killed, and most of its members got arrested because they were blue-collar criminals. Kit was only an intern at their law firm, but somehow, he ended up in jail, and the only way for him to hope for leniency is to help the MPD catch the other guild members.

It took me a while to warm up to Kit. I feel that since we didn't see him before, I didn't care that much about him or what happened to him. He is not a bad main character, but I just didn’t find him that compelling at first. He is slowly growing on me, so I imagine I will like him more in the next Warped book, and hopefully enjoy the sequel a little more than I did this book.

Lienna Shen is a good secondary character, too, but the hint of romance we saw between Kit and her felt forced. I get that she is cute and he has abs, but I don’t see what their little crush adds to the story. Kit managed to show Lienna how hot and nice he was in a day, and because of that she felt kinda bad for him, and he thought she was badass and beautiful, so of course he couldn’t resist her appeal… I can see how those two fit well together, and how they could develop romantic feelings, but not right from the start! I hope things will progress slowly between them (if they are endgame), because I couldn’t get behind the potential romance between them in this book.

I have to say, though, that Lienna's magic, and the way she uses her marbles and Rubik's Cube, is so cool! I totally understand why Kit thought she was a badass, and I just love the idea that she can create spells by combining different runes on her Cube.

I love the magic system Annette Marie created with all the different classes of mythics. It was nice to see different powers than what we had in Three Mages and a Margarita. This book showed more psychic powers, such as illusions and empathy, instead of fighting powers like elementals. I love Kit’s power, and I am eager to see what else he can do, because it is obvious that he has only just begun to test the extent of his powers.

Even though I didn’t care that much about the characters, it was a quick and entertaining read, full of magic and action, and I will continue with this series for sure, but for now, back to Tori and her mages! I am also curious to meet the main characters from the other connected series, and see if and how they will end up meeting each other…

I'm super happy we got to go on this adventure and learn the background of kit and lienna and see how they came to meet and see their partnership develop.

I can't wait to see how they got to the point we see in "a little warped"

I love how they balance each other out. Kit is the goofy barely ever serious movie buff. Lienna is the by the book do gooder trying to make an difference in the world. he helps to keep her light and happy and she helps him stay out of trouble

love the series by Annette Marie but some of the male writer stuff is sexist and irritating. also, the narrator was fine until he tried multiple voices. his female voices were grating and awful. like Kit as a character though.
