À propos de cet audio

In 19th-century Vienna, a drama of love, fate, and will is played out amid the intellectual ferment that defined the era.

Josef Breuer, one of the founding fathers of psychoanalysis, is at the height of his career. Friedrich Nietzsche, Europe's greatest philosopher, is on the brink of suicidal despair, unable to find a cure for the headaches and other ailments that plague him. When he agrees to treat Nietzsche with his experimental "talking cure", Breuer never expects that he, too, will find solace in their sessions. Only through facing his own inner demons can the gifted healer begin to help his patient.

In When Nietzsche Wept, Irvin Yalom blends fact and fiction, atmosphere and suspense to unfold an unforgettable story about the redemptive power of friendship.

This is going into my list of personal favourites! An extremely captivating discussion of the psychology of obsession, and a testament to the transformative power of open and honest conversation not only with other but ourselves as well. It provided me with a much-needed recontextualization of Nietzsche’s work!

Amazing!

Yalom is a gifted writer and very insightful about Freud, Nietzsche and Existential Therapy. As such, the novel was most appealing to me based on the historical aspects.

The narration is superb. Paul interpretation (with the right accent) of the story characters was a delight to listen.

Overall I great audio book. Highly recommend.

Superb Audiobook

I haven't had such an emotional response to a novel in awhile. The fact that the author went to such lengths to add historical accuracy greatly enhances the experience. My opinion may be biased, because I work in the mental health field and find history fafascinating, but there are important themes here, that most people will relate to.

I felt regret every time I had to pause the recording
