Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner unites three of her most beloved characters - Detective D. D. Warren, Flora Dane, and Kimberly Quincy - in a twisty new thriller, as they investigate a mysterious murder from the past...that points to a dangerous and chilling present-day crime.

FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy and Sergeant Detective D. D. Warren have built a task force to follow the digital bread crumbs left behind by deceased serial kidnapper Jacob Ness. When a disturbing piece of evidence is discovered in the hills of Georgia, they bring Flora Dane and true-crime savant Keith Edgar to a small town where something seems to be deeply wrong. What at first looks like a Gothic eeriness soon hardens into something much more sinister...and they discover that for all the evil Jacob committed while alive, his worst secret is still to be revealed. Quincy and D. D. must summon their considerable skills and experience to crack the most disturbing case of their careers - and Flora must face her own past directly in the hope of saving others.

Great story line

I loved this story, at first I thought I was not going to like the performance but I was pleasantly mistaken.

I would like an Encore!!!!

This book is part DD Warren, part Kimberly Quincy and part Flora Dane. Each of these female protagonists is a strong character on her own. The three together are a force to be reckoned! This book is part of a series but can easily be listened to as a stand alone. I suggest listening to all the books in the DD, Kimberly and the predecessor Pierce Quincy series. Not because you need them to get this book but because they are all wonderful series worth listening to.
At the heart of this book is a young girl with aphasia (inability to speak), she is also illiterate. DD and Kimberly must figure out how to communicate with this girl in order to bring some very evil people committing some very heinous crimes to an end.
Kirsten Potter does an exceptional job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Horrible delivery

The story line was good, I enjoyed it. But the woman reading it was absolutely horrible! It’s hard to even describe half the time so sarcastic, and then almost like it’s a joke. SHe totally ruins a very good book! I don’t care who the author is, I will never listen to another book read by this woman

Convoluted

This story was very convoluted and horrific. Lots of characters and violence. I could not relate to any of it.

Outstanding suspense novel!

Flora Dane is author Lisa Gardner's most compelling character who is not series protagonist. Gardner brings her back in this combo D.D Warren and FBI Profiler series novel. After she stopped writing romance novels as Alicia Scott Gardner started the FBI Profiler series with protagonist Pierce Quincy and later Quincy's younger daughter FBI Special Agent Kimberly Quincy. This is the first full novel that crosses the D.D Warren series and the FBI Profiler series. (I'd love for Gardner to release a new novel in the Tessa Leoni series which she last released with Crash & Burn five years ago.)

WHEN YOU SEE ME goes back to the area of rural Georgia where Flora Dane was kidnapped and held for 15 months by the now dead Jacob Ness only to run into Ness' dad who is a now microgreens farmer. Flora Dane plays a very large role in this novel. Kirsten Potter narrates this psychological thriller superbly.

I Wish It was Longer!!

I’ve been looking forward to this book for months now and finished listening in a day. I’m sad it’s over. Oh, how I missed these characters! If you have not read any of Lisa Gardner’s books before, I suggest reading the books featuring Flora Dane first so you understand the back story. Flora Dane has a story that is not for the faint of heart so if you are looking for a cozy this is not the series for you. Lisa Gardner has a gift for creating characters that jump off the page. They are likable and very fleshed out with amazing personalities. Kristen Potter is an outstanding narrator and makes the characters come to life. I especially loved how she brought to life Bonita, a character that was shot as a child and can not talk. I do not want to include any spoiler. The publishers summary gives enough information to set up the plot. This is a credit well spent. I can not wait for the next book!

SPECTACULAR *No Spoiler

I LOVE Lisa Gardner and I thought this book was fantastically done! You can read it as a standalone or you can do your self a big favor and start with the first book in the D. D. Warren book which is titled Aone! You can thank me later! :)

When You See Me was worth the year-long wait, and I am already looking forward to next year's release!

If you have already read all the Lisa Gardner books (like me) and your looking for an author to read while you wait for more, I would recommend The Naturalist by Andrew Mayne (3 book series) that is wonderfully done and very gripping!

Excellent Story! Gripping and suspenseful. Loved it!

Lisa Gardner has done it again! Bringing all three of these characters together flawlessly. The story flows and keeps me entranced from beginning to end. Kirsten Potter’s narration is seamless and perfect, as usual. My only complaint is to have to wait another year for her next book!!!

Wonderful

Let’s start at the beginning, with skeleton remains being found in the Forest outside a small town. The skeleton remains identified as one of Jacobs alleged victims.

Enter Detective D.D, Flora, and FBI Quincy, and A long for ride is Keith.

When they get to the small town nothing is what it seems even the girl that everyone says is dumb.

The more they dig for answers the more bodies
they find.
