Description
Murder, mystery, and a chocolate love potion...
Caitlyn is looking forward to Midsummer's Eve in the tiny English village of Tillyhenge. Celebrating the summer solstice can be fun - especially when your grandmother is a witch with an enchanted chocolate shop! But when a teenage girl is murdered and a priceless love potion goes missing, Caitlyn and her cousins are plunged into a puzzling mystery.
Is the girl's death connected to the midnight bonfires at the ancient stone circle? What about the two strangers who recently arrived in the village? With her naughty black kitten and toothless old vampire uncle (not to mention handsome British aristocrat, Lord James Fitzroy!) all lending a helping hand, Caitlyn sets out to do some magical sleuthing.
But Midsummer's Eve is fast approaching and spells are going disastrously wrong... can Caitlyn use her newfound witch powers to find the killer - and maybe even mend a broken heart?

Chocolate Magic plus
H.Y. Hanna sets a number of her cozy mysteries in the English countryside, which brings a sense of nostalgic comfort to me, having grown up reading about murder in these settings. Her books, however, bring a modern sense of whimsy and familiar young adult dilemmas into the world she creates. The Bewitched by Chocolate books, voiced perfectly by Pearl Hewitt, are both cozy mysteries and fantasy romance, with an added a unique twist of the idea of chocolate magic.
Witch Summer Night's Cream, as the title suggests, uses the notion that Shakespeare's tale of bewitchment has a basis in fact, which lures characters seeking the referenced potion, each for his own individual desire. This provides numerous possibilities for nefarious motives, which keeps the story moving. The real stars of this book, however, are the quirky characters and a generous dose of humor. It's an enchanting, lighthearted listen.

Great summer or winter read
I really enjoyed this story. Like all H.Y Hanna books they are a funny easy read with great characters that become like old friends the more you get into the series.
This time there is a lot more spell casting and mishaps to add to the mystery of the murder. So much so that some of the villagers are getting in on the act and casting spells.
A body of a young girl is found behind the widow Mags chocolate shop and Caitlyn fears her young cousin might be involved and then when it turns an usual plant extract is missing and only a witch can get it she has no choice but to help the police.
Pearl Hewitt is for me the voice of Caitlyn and her friends and I hope she continues to do so as she does such a great job.

Not A Bad Series
Aside from the somewhat predictable ending, I enjoyed this one. I usually listen while I'm either driving or working in the kitchen. One thing though; the character Pomona is getting more and more irritating. If not for her utter cluelessness, then for the gag-worthy attempt of the English narrator trying to put on a Southern California valley girl accent. As a REAL Southern California valley girl, please stop.

Fun twist on Shakespeare 's Midsummer night's drea
This is such an enchanting series! Hy Hanna does an incredible job creating characters and a world you find yourself wanting to return to over and over again.
This story to finds Caitlyn learning about the widow Mag' s chocolate sauce that has everyone heads over heels in love with. As well as a quirky historian who believes Tillyhenge is the location in Shakespeare's play. Caitlyn sees another bonfire on the hill and rushes out to investigate only to find the body of a girl from town. You are keapt guessing on the identity of the murderer and will be surprised as to who it actually is. The dashing Lord Fitzroy and Caitlyn's sassy cousin,Pomona are also featured.
This series just keeps getting better and I'm excited for the next book and getting more information about Caitlyn 's mysterious parentage.

its okay
I like HY Hanna for the world she creates for the reader with each series (oxford tearoom, English cottage garden, bewitched by chocolate)
But Bewitched by chocolate series so far has been enticing at first but unsatisfying in terms of story and characters. Caitlyn just acts like a silly teenage girl and its hard to believe she is supposed to be a witch or even a smart "detective" who figures the murderer everytime. It contrasts with her behavior which in this book was downright dishonest or cavalier. (repeatedly lying to the police, hiding evidence, knowing who the murderer is but unable to say it and just sleeping it off while being girlishly infatuated with James) In fact the infatuation with James is so childishly portrayed that one might forget that she is an adult woman. She jumps to conclusions on who could be the murderer and the police repeatedly listen to her nonsense, partly thanks to her connection with James.
Pomona, her cousin, is portrayed as a stereotypical Californian American - loud, overly direct and silly, not realizing what's going on around her and immature. Why so out there?!
Evie is also getting progressively annoying. The whole scene of the boy turning into a donkey was unnecessary, dragged out and just ridiculous.
I like the narrator as she does a good job with every series she narrates. But her American accents are just not good. it doesn't take away from the story but the more she does the Pomona voice, it just starts to get irritating. But I think its more the way the character is written that's the problem. Also please stop with the loud Cat meows in all the series!!!! I agree with another reviewer that the cat noises are louder than the rest of the narration and distrub the flow of relaxed listening. Its more annoying in the cottage garden mysteries but same here. And how many times is that kitten going to get lost and Caitlyn going to follow him to creepy places? That bit is getting old and repetitive now.
I still have hope and will continue to read as I like HY Hanna. But so far the stories seem to be more like children's or teenager's plot but with adult themes like murder. I really hope the next book improves or I might give up.
