I really enjoyed the story, but I really struggled differentiating the different characters from the lack of different voices accents, every character sounded similar or the same.

Great story

Author Justin Miller starts this story with a Fantasy posit with near-limitless possibilities: nondescript misfit gamer-geek 'Dale Mitchell' accidentally runs over a God-like "World Keeper" with his delivery truck. He then becomes a near omnipotent God-like being himself - complete with reality-creating Dungeon-Master powers - and goes about redesigning our familiar Earth as a D&D-styled realm fuelled by magic & populated with Human/Elf/Dwarf/Halfling/Beast-kin races and Mage/Priest/Fighter/Monk/etc classes.
The Magic System/Game Mechanics are largely unoriginal (XP-based leveling; skill + power grinding; HUDs with visible Health/Mana/Chi bars, for example) but the author's malleable universe concept gives him license to write basically whatever he wants as Dale works to define his place among the 10,000 other "Keepers" scattered about the universe. I was intrigued by the potential alternatives.
Unfortunately, Miller chooses to write the book with an MC who is a ridiculously overpowered living diety.. and loads of immature "Furry"/Harem nonsense [the first character that the protagonist creates is a Hentai-worthy eared/tailed Cat-Girl companion named 'Tara', for example (who - when not offering world-creating advice - worshipfully f**ks Dale whenever he wants, gratefully curls up to sleep naked + purring at the foot of his bed, and proposes lezzing out with flat-chested childlike Halflings or big-boobed eared/tailed Dog-Girls for his entertainment)⁉️].
The MMORPG universe is described vividly and Dale's encounters & world-planning are capably written.. but the narrative gets buried in autistic-level character sheet minutiae mixed with that striking sexual innuendo (it thankfully doesn't go X-rated - but definitely flirts with it). I was disappointed with both the ridiculous amount of power Miller gave to Dale and where he chose to take it.

As to presentation: Stephen Bel Davies is solidly professional but "average" at best. His diction/voice-acting/tone are admittedly creditable, but his sibilant contralto timbre and iambic cadence - while not terrible - made listening for 21 hours a bit of a chore. Tantor Audio Inc. could have found a better narrator in their stable.

Altogether, I rate 'World Keeper: Birth Of A World' 2 stars out of 10. Maybe you're into this kind of 'I-wish-I-could-be-a-sexually-irresistible-God" fantasy fare more than I am.. but I found it sophomoric and masturbatory. Even if it were free I wouldn't be continuing with the 'World Keeper' series. I definitely can't recommend spending a Credit on it.

Keep browsing.

[Note: Dale spending XP to create a type of diminutive tiny-breasted Halfling called a "Loli" that he can descend to earth and impregnate at will is honestly kind of gross. Fooled by the publisher's summary & listed categories for the book, I didn't think that I was downloading a GameLit featuring a pervy superpowered pedophile ☹️. Audible needs to update their algorithm]
