À propos de cet audio

From the author of the best-selling Contagion comes a new novel in the Living Dead series.

When deadly earthquakes devastate the Caribbean, an ancient disease of almost unimaginable destructive force engulfs the globe. As the earth continues to convulse and the seas encroach, the dead rise with an appetite for human flesh. Survivors must learn to navigate a world in which they are now the hunted. A world where the hunters never sleep.

I’m quiet picky about books. I have countless books that I have started but have never finished because I lose interest. This book on the other hand I finished in under a day. Every spare minute I had today was spent listening because it never hit a plateau you were constantly on edge wondering what’s gunna happen, be found, live, die etc… I loved how they tied book one and two together in the story line. I could keep going but I really want to start book three.

Loved it!

This L.I. Albemont tale is pretty typical gore-heavy genre fare: straightforward "survive" dynamics with a "find-a-cure" plot device. Albemont isn't going to win any writing awards any time soon (her characterization & plotting are distinctly below-average).. but her descriptions are mind's-eye vivid and the search for a cure by White House figures is well-reasoned.

As to presentation: Emily Beresford is better on this audiobook than she was in Book 1 of the 'Living Dead' series.. but still no better than solidly "average". Tantor Audio did well to cast Beresford for the project but could have gotten similar results from any professional narrator in their stable.

Altogether, 'World Without End' merits 5.5 stars out of 10. As a 'Plus' option, it was a serviceable distraction for a couple of quiet afternoons.. but better ZA selections beckon for your Credit.

[Note: outbreaks throughout history for the "Z-virus" - Ancient & Napoleonic Egypt, in particular - are a bit amateur-ish in conduct but satisfyingly intuitive]
