À propos de cet audio

Once it takes hold, it never lets go...

Like an illness, fear spreads. Healthy minds are withered by paranoia. Can anything stop the contagion?

A peculiar tablet unearthed in a Middle Eastern ossuary provokes madness in those who encounter it. One by one, people come under the tablet's sway and are subjected to horrific visions and dreams. In time, the tablet's true purpose becomes clear: It is the harbinger of an eons-dead god whose reemergence will steep the world in terror and suffering. Having put the pieces together, two men race against the clock and attempt to disrupt the terrifying work of an ancient cult.

Wretchedness is a full-length novel of supernatural terror by Ambrose Ibsen.

this book was interesting, and scratched my itch for a really solid scare. it was my first listen to this author, and I must say I end this first experience a definite fan. the narrator was decent, and has a great voice. however I did find his drawn out speech a little tedious at times. just felt like he had a rhythm, much like a newscaster, and rarely deviated from it. that being said it wasnt so bad as to be a deal breaker.

the book itself has a pulp, sort of fringe feel to it, while evocative of Lovecraftian lore. if you enjoy the concepts in Lovecraft's works but, like me, find it quite weighty and dense and difficult to get through then you will likely enjoy this much lighter, more digestible homage.
while there is no question that this is a subjective subgenre (everyone has their own tastes), and the similarities to existing works may taint it for some, I felt this book had it's own voice and point of view. the seeping fear in this book will linger long after you finish it and for that it was well worth the credit!

solid scare!

This is a scary novel that is well-written and well-performed. But, although it doesn't end in a true cliff-hanger, I am anxious to find out what happens to a particularly horrid protagonist. So, please, Ambrose, write a sequel so we fans are not left wondering (and make sure Jake Urry narrates).

There has gotta be a Book II!
