À propos de cet audio

Most diets state that in order to lose weight, you must reduce your carbohydrate intake. Science, on the other hand, tells us differently.

Diet-related information overload never seems to subside. Today, we are bombarded by diets with conflicting messages that have been propagated in books, on social media, on podcasts, and in gym locker rooms. These include, but are not limited to, numerous low-carbohydrate diets in various forms (yes, the Atkins diet is still floating around). But if you want to lose weight, do you really need to follow a low-carb diet?

Few things are more demonized than carbohydrates. Every day, it seems like a new health expert is slamming this macronutrient and its link to weight gain. With over half of all American adults saying that they'd like to lose weight, it's easy for people to adopt the "carbs are bad, bacon is good" mentality. Carbohydrates have been implicated in contributing to weight gain in a variety of ways, including raising blood sugar, encouraging insulin resistance, ingesting calories with little nutritious value, and stimulating brain reward centers, which leads to overeating (Adams, 2022).
