Description

New York Times best-selling author Dr. Daniel Amen equips you with powerful weapons to battle the inner dragons that are breathing fire on your brain, driving unhealthy behaviors, and robbing you of joy and contentment.

Your brain is always listening and responding to these hidden influences and unless you recognize and deal with them, they can steal your happiness, spoil your relationships, and sabotage your health. This book will teach you to tame the:

  1. Dragons from the Past that ignite your most painful emotions;
  2. Negative Thought Dragons that attack you, fueling anxiety and depression;
  3. They and Them Dragons, people in your life whose own dragons do battle with yours;
  4. Bad Habit Dragons that increase the chances you'll be overweight, overwhelmed, and an underachiever;
  5. Addicted Dragons that make you lose control of your health, wealth, and relationships;
  6. Scheming Dragons, advertisers and social media sites that steal your attention.

In Your Brain Is Always Listening, Dr. Daniel Amen shows you how to recognize harmful dragons and gives you the weapons to vanquish them. With these practical tools, you can stop feeling sad, mad, nervous, or out of control and start being happier, calmer, and more in control of your own destiny.

Learned a lot but not my Favourite from Daniel

Great Book to listen to and I learned a lot.

Daniel has done a great job summarizing the negatives called ‘Dragons’

The main message of the book:

Problems aren’t mental health issues; they are brain health issues. Whether we listen to our problems depends on the health of our brain and the strength of our PFC (Prefrontral Cortex)

I have multiple books from Daniel. This is not my favorite one. I enjoyed more Feel Better Fast and Memory Rescue because they are more solution oriented. Also, I have wished that this was read by Daniel because he has a unique style of delivering the message.

Yes worth listening!

Good Read

Not to long and straight to the point! Helpful way of looking at issues in a different light!

Very Helpful

I really enjoyed this book. The author instructs you on how much your health and surroundings affect the way our Brain works. It wasn’t all Brain science information. So many easy to understand exercises
to use in every day situations.
It’s not a self-help book with edgy type ideas.
It’s a full explanation of how our Brains work with Medical field research and treatments to help.
Definitely worth listening to.

Good premise, bad execution

I really liked the idea behind this book. Unfortunately I’m struggling with two aspects.

Firstly, I don’t find the narrator very engaging. The tone used and monotonous way of speaking makes it feel like the book is narrated by an automate.

Secondly, while I enjoy the author’s efforts at giving concrete examples of each “dragon’s” effect on people, I feel like there is too much emphasis placed upon the coronavirus pandemic.

Honestly, it feels like the author is trying to convince his readers to consult with him or his team because of the current pandemic.

I am less than a quarter of the way through the book and I honestly have no interest or motivation in finishing it.
