Description

“When you wake up and you see that the Earth is not just the environment, the Earth is us, you touch the nature of interbeing. And at that moment you can have real communication with the Earth.... We have to wake up together. And if we wake up together, then we have a chance. Our way of living our life and planning our future has led us into this situation. And now we need to look deeply to find a way out, not only as individuals, but as a collective, a species.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

We face a potent intersection of crises: ecological destruction, rising inequality, racial injustice, and the lasting impacts of a devastating pandemic. The situation is beyond urgent. To face these challenges, we need to find ways to strengthen our clarity, compassion, and courage to act.

Beloved Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh is blazingly clear: There’s one thing we all have the power to change, which can make all the difference, and that is our mind. Our way of looking, seeing, and thinking determines every choice we make, the everyday actions we take or avoid, how we relate to those we love or oppose, and how we react in a crisis.

Mindfulness and the radical insights of Zen meditation can give us the strength and clarity we need to help create a regenerative world in which all life is respected. Filled with Thich Nhat Hanh’s inspiring meditations, Zen stories and experiences from his own activism, as well as commentary from Sister True Dedication, one of his students Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet shows us a new way of seeing and living that can bring healing and harmony to ourselves, our relationships, and the Earth.

Plus, exclusive to the audiobook, you can continue your awakening with the meditations that are the foundation of this book, directly from Thich Naht Hanh himself.

Supplemental enhancement PDF accompanies the audiobook.

Thay (beloved teacher)

I love Edoardo Ballerini as a narrator.

The true star of this work however, is absolutely in the content. Both enlightening and hopeful.

Whole hearted recommendation.

Great Book. Hard For Me To Focus On Audible Though.

First off, the performance was amazing. I came fresh off of ‘Bewilderment’ before this, so Edwardo Ballerini definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite narrators. 5 starts. Full stop.

As for the story, I think it’s definitely somebody’s 5/5, but I decided to settle on a 4. The idea is great and I really enjoy what it has to say. For the most part I was on board with everything too; There were only a few little comments about Nuclear power, etc. that I noticed myself disagreeing with. Otherwise, great book.

My only reservation is with the Audiobook format and my own ability to focus. Now, for many of you this might not be a problem, but I often had trouble giving this book the kind of focus it deserves. Typically, I use audible driving or walking my dog. In this past this has worked great for a lot of fiction; Even if you miss a few seconds you can fill in the gap. This book requires A LOT more focus to really enjoy. In retrospect, I probably should have saved this one for a physical copy; That’s just me though.

Much needed now and highly recommended book!

The Great Teacher and Zen Master will "go on" through us (as he knew and taught).

It is our time now (the time is always now) to continue and act with a great love and compassion to save this planet. Just follow simple steps and practice outlined in this book.

Big Thanks to Sister True Dedication for her contribution to the book and amazing narration - it was so touching to listen to.
Edoardo Ballerini is my favorite narrator of Thich Nhat Hanh - great job.

After having read and listened to many Thich Nhat Hanh's deeply touching books, this book feels special, while it is a good summary of all his teachings on one hand, it has added urgency and addresses the current world's situation. It is more practical and direct, has the power and urgency to awaken and save the world (with a help from all of us).

Even though Thay left his physical body, "his" love and peaceful action continues in us and through us. <3

Thank you!

What the World Needs Right Now

This is and what has always been the path to creating a healthy and more empathetic world. Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings have always been a guide for me and this collection is masterful. The audiobook was amazing and once more, Edoardo Ballerini’s voice takes you into the Zen mindstate, where you feel at home and at one with every moment.

A Book To Read and Reread

This is the most important book of our time if we as a species want to avert great human tragedy and suffering. Written as a manual for global transformation starting with the self.

Thank you my brother, my sister for choosing to read this book. From all of humanity. A deep bow of gratitude to Thich Naht Hahn for writing this book and leaving it begins shortly before his passing. Rest In Peace

Excellent Book for reflection

This is an excellent book for a reflection of our impact as individuals to our planet. We could do more that we think that we are able to do.
