À propos de cet audio

After Jack the Ripper and before Son of Sam there was only one name their equal in terror: the deadly, elusive, and mysterious Zodiac. Beginning in 1968 the hooded mass murderer terrified the city of San Francisco and the Bay Area with a string of brutal killings. A sexual sadist, his pleasure was torture and murder. His first victims were a teenage couple, stalked and shot dead in a lover's lane. After another slaying, he sent his first mocking note to authorities, promising he would kill again. The official tally of his victims was six. The real toll may have reached 50. He was never caught. Graysmith, who was on the staff of the San Francisco Chronicle at the time of the murders, gives this gripping account of Zodiac's reign of terror.©1976 Robert Graysmith (P)2006 Blackstone Audiobooks Meurtre True Crime Crime Effrayant

Absolutely Loved it! I was familiar with the story of the Zodiac prior to reading this book. I severely underestimated the amount of detail and mystery I had been missing from the story! A must read if you're interested in the Zodiac

LOVED IT

I think Robert Graysmith, with what resources he had back then, did an admiral job in tying the pieces together, but check, verify all supposed facts in this book before accepting as fact.

If you go into this book with the aforementioned realistic approach, the story he weaves is compelling.

If you're interested in the case, you should listen to this book, first, then move onto other factual sources to verify.

A Good Overview, But Don't Assume All Correct

At 10 hours and 40 minutes, the Audible version of Zodiac is a much more manageable beast than the physical book. Narrated by Stefan Rudnicki, whose deep, gravelly voice provides the perfect "noir" atmosphere, the audio format helps bridge the gaps between the book’s heavy technical data.
Why it works for audio:
The Vibe: Rudnicki’s performance makes the investigation feel like a classic detective thriller, which keeps you engaged during the dense forensic segments.
The Narrative: Listening allows you to absorb the chaos of the late '60s Bay Area without getting stuck on the visual clutter of the ciphers and letters.
The Convenience: It’s the perfect length for a few days of commuting or chores—long enough to get deep into the weeds, but short enough that it doesn't overstay its welcome like the 18-hour sequel, Zodiac Unmasked.
The "Buyer Beware":
Graysmith is a storyteller first and a historian second. Treat this as a highly compelling speculative investigation rather than a collection of undisputed facts. It's "true crime" with a heavy emphasis on the author's own theories.
Verdict: If you want the definitive lore behind the ciphers and the terror that gripped the Bay Area, the audiobook is the most efficient way to consume it.
