 In this episode, Nursing Economic$ Editor Dr. Donna Nickitas, and Associate Editor Dr. Mary Ann Donohue-Ryan talk with Dr. Bethany Hall-Long, the current Lieutenant Governor for the state of Delaware, about health and public policy, and why it matters now more than ever as we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Drs. Nickitas, Donohue-Ryan, and Hall-Long explore essential issues confronting the nursing profession; nurses themselves; and overall workforce, education, and training of nurses. They also address vital concerns related to politics, power, and the significance of nurses running for public office.


Bethany Hall-Long, PhD, RN, FAAN, is the current Lieutenant Governor of Delaware and has dedicated her medical career to addressing health inequities and expanding treatment options and access for mental health care in Delaware. She is a Professor of Nursing and Joint Faculty in Urban Affairs at the University of Delaware, in Newark, Delaware.

Donna M. Nickitas, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, CNE, FAAN, is Dean and Professor, the Rutgers School of Nursing, in Camden, New Jersey, and the Editor of Nursing Economic$.

Mary Ann Donohue-Ryan, PhD, RN, APN, PMHCNS-BC, CPHQ, FACHE, is an Executive Nurse Leader at Chilton Medical Center, Atlantic Health System, in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and the Associate Editor of Nursing Economic$.
